Writing the conclusion

  • the final paragraph (conclusion) of your essay is possibly the most important
  • wraps the entire essay up
  • shows how you used the essay to address the question

How to write a conclusion

First sentence: bring it all together - tell us that your evidence answered the question.
for example: It is for all these reasons that bears are extremely dangerous.

Next few sentences: summarize your argument/position
example: Since bears have such sharp teeth and claws, and can run so fast, they are dangerous animals indeed.

Last sentence or two: bring essay to a close
This is where you make your own closing remarks.
The only real rule is to not introduce anything new.
good example: Bears are truly terrifying and should be avoided.
bad example: Bears are also furry and kind of cute.
