Adjective: a word used to describe a noun

examples: nice, pretty, colourful, ugly, lumpy, terrible, super, cool, hard, sparkly

sensory language: adjectives which appeal to the five senses
sight: ugly
taste: sweet
sound: loud
touch: scratchy
smell: stinky

Adverb: a word used to describe a verb; tells HOW something is done

examples:
slowly (-ly is a good sign that it's an adverb!)
quckly
noisily
speedily
quietly
badly
humourously
loudly
speedily
hazardly/dangerously
illegally


Mad Libs

Stories that are missing parts of speech.
For example:
The dog took a bite of the __.
noun:

Today I walked to the shop and bought a new (n)__. It was (adj) __ and shiny. I took my bicycle home and I (v ending in -ed)___ it with soap and water.

noun: heater
adjective: dirty
verb ending in -ed: licked
