"Exploding" the Moment

We are going to produce a piece of writing that shows we know what sensory language is.

Exploding the moment is taking a small period of time - a minute or two perhaps - and describing it in vivid, sensory detail.

  1. Read through what you've written about Newcastle/the weekend.
  2. Pick a really good part - one short span of time, maybe a minute or two
  3. Go back up to the top of the page where you've written the five senses. For each one, go back through and write down what you experienced in that moment (what you could taste, feel, smell, etc.)
  4. Use lots of sensory language! Try to come up with as many examples as you can.
  5. Draw a line after what you've written about the trip, and re-write the moment you chose using all the adjectives and sensory language from above.
